A Small Village With Big Aspirations

Ohio Northern University Public Relations and their accredited on-campus firm, True North PR takes on several clients a semester to provide its students with relevant real-life job experience.

This semester, we are working with the businesses and village administration in Edon Ohio.  Edon is a small town up near the border of Ohio and Michigan that has under 1000 residents. Together, over 25 businesses are participating in the campaign along with the village administration.

The team that is working with the village of Edon has come up with a baseline of deliverables for the village businesses and the administration.  Here are a few of those deliverables:

    1. If there is not a Facebook page present for a business, there will be one created.
    2. A minimum of two posts per week on the Facebook pages.
    3. Recreation of the profile picture if necessary
    4. Change the cover photo at least three times during the campaign.

Hopefully, after these deliverables are met, the businesses and the administration in Edon will have a professional starting point to continue their social media marketing in the future.

This campaign has taken several hours of planning and commitment from everyone on the team to get it moving in the right direction. Fortunately, we have a team that takes pride in their work and wants this project to do well.

I have been the campaign lead for this project, and I have learned more than I could have hoped for through this campaign.

This project has become part of my everyday life and hopefully, at the end of the semester, will provide the village of Edon with a better understanding of social media.

This project is ongoing, and I will be posting a weekly update on our progress from now until the end of the semester.

  1. Joe, thanks for the updates on the Edon campaign. I am sure all of the business appreciate your hard work along with the rest of your team. I can’t wait to hear more updates in the future about the process. Best of luck!
